Construction Best Soft Crib Mattress
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of 10 inches. It features a simple design with just 2 foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.

Here are the details listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam increases airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling system.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for restorative sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was pretty thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It’s made out of polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic material.
Comfort Layer – Comprised of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is super soft and has a slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re very likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s normal for all-foam beds like this to feature a top section of memory foam, this layer particularly is very thick and should bring some satisfying relief to the shoulders and hips. And though memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the night, Puffy has managed to mitigate this using a gel infusion intended to keep things cool and nice while you sleep.
Support Layer – Made up of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer over it, this section has a fast response to pressure and is quite firm. The combination of materials has been specifically chosen to bring targeted relief to the spine. Best Soft Crib Mattress
We discovered Puffy’s thick memory foam layer having a gentle, pressure-relieving feel. A lack of any kind of transition foam means that you’re very likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you are sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you may want to check out the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important aspect to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you visualize where these tension spots might be, I put a pressure map over the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Laying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this resulted in some great pressure relief in this position, it did make it hard to move around and change positions.
Side – Rolling on my side, I sensed some pressure relief. I’m not overly surprised with this as side sleepers have a tendency to go for softer mattresses that provide cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, common problem areas for those who sleep on their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a big win for side sleepers, it is a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which created some discomfort in this position.
Now, let’s take a peek at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the level of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress to the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Every drop is meant to symbolize another movement you’re likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are really quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll see a small spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I would attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, which makes it so you’re unlikely to be too bothered by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
While purchasing a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re very likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers in this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it a bit tricky to change positions. Best Soft Crib Mattress
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and make a sound, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to feel a consistent feel across the whole surface without having a “rolling out of the bed” feel. So far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress includes a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period should give you more than enough time to try this bed out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is a good idea to be aware that you need to take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a new mattress your body needs several weeks to even months to fully adapt. If for some reason you get to the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy actually backs their product. Covering any abnormal defects or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the typical wear and tear of a mattress. This gives consumers with the confidence that this is a mattress that the business will stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in each material of this mattress. The upper layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses convection and conduction to dissipate heat and keep it away from the body. Additionally,a it is infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than conventional foam mattresses.
The base foam is compact and supportive to create a solid base that won’t let you sink into the mattress and keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to help in keeping cool. All of this allows for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I would say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a traditional memory foam texture, so could be good for anybody with a penchant for the material. Best Soft Crib Mattress
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anybody in search of a gentle, calming mattress.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of the mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who might find that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
It also contributes to a structure that does not have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people needing buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Best Soft Crib Mattress
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for everyone who are looking to get all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and washed when needed. The top is soft and pliable and fits well to the mattress. It even has a rather suitable and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that really adds to the look. The side panels are a dark grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will stay cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give decent pressure relief. Puffy is very sturdy and contains motion isolation which makes it suitable for many different kinds of sleepers. Although, I’d like to state this mattress is an excellent pick for side sleepers because the thick comfort layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. In addition, the mattress provides proper body support and is a fantastic selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Best Soft Crib Mattress
