Construction Bear Or Puffy Mattress
The Puffy is basically a memory foam mattress that measures a total of ten inches. It has a straight forward design with just two foam layers: one of thick memory foam and also another of high-density poly foam.
Bear Or Puffy Mattress
Here are the details as listed on their website:
10″ MATTRESS | 2 LAYERS
6.5 – 8.5 Medium-Firm Comfort
4″ Cooling Cloud Foam: Puffy’s gel-infused foam improves airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses. Provides pressure relief and cooling.
6″ Firm Core Support Foam: Exceptional support and spinal alignment for healing sleep.
Cover – The cover fabric was quite thin, which encourages airflow throughout the mattress. It is made from polyester, which makes for a soft and elastic feel.
Comfort Layer – Made up of 4″ of gel memory foam, the comfort layer here is soft and has a very slow response to pressure, which usually means you’re likely to sink deep for some intense body contouring. While it’s typical for all-foam beds like this to incorporate a top section of memory foam, this layer in particular is incredibly thick and ought to bring some satisfying relief to the hips and shoulders. Although memory foam has a bit of a reputation for overheating in the nighttime , Puffy has been able to mitigate this using a gel infusion meant to keep things nice and cool as you are sleeping.
Support Layer – Composed of 6″ of high-density poly foam, unlike the memory foam layer above it, this part has a fast response to pressure and can be quite firm. The combination of materials was specifically selected to deliver targeted relief to the spine. Bear Or Puffy Mattress
We found Puffy’s thick memory foam layer with a gentle, pressure-relieving texture. A lack of any sort of transition foam means that you’re likely to interact primarily with the high-density poly foam as you quickly sink through the memory foam comfort layer. Because of this, you are most likely to feel as though you’re sleeping more “in” this mattress than “on top” of it. Although, if you want an even softer feel, you might want to have a look at the Puffy Lux, which has an extra layer of memory foam for an ultra-plush vibe.
Another important factor to consider when buying a new mattress is where pressure points are going to form while lying on top of it.
To help you picture where these tension spots might be, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You may see the outcomes on the image where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Lying on my back, I could really feel myself sinking into the mattress, with the memory foam in the top layer working to contour to my own body and fill in the space at my lumbar region. While this led to some fantastic pressure relief in this position, it did make it difficult to move around and shift positions.
Side – Rolling onto my side, I felt a few pressure relief. I am not overly surprised with this as side sleepers tend to go for softer mattresses which offer cushiony support to the shoulders and hips, typical problem areas for those who sleep in their sides.
Stomach – Though the thick memory foam comfort layer is a huge benefit for side sleepers, it’s a bit of a mixed bag for stomach sleepers who generally opt for firmer structures that keep the spine in an even alignment. Here, I could feel my hips sinking out of line with my shoulders, which caused some discomfort in this position.
Now, let’s take a look at the Puffy’s motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance detectable from one side of the mattress into the other.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
FYI: Each drop is intended to signify another movement you are most likely to experience in bed, from tossing and turning (4″) to getting out of bed (8″) all the way to full on jumping (12″).
These are actually quite interesting motion transfer results. You’ll notice a slight spike in first movement across the drops that quickly dissipates, which I’d attribute to the thick memory foam comfort layer. This material is excellent at absorbing and dampening motion, making it so you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your partner’s tossing and turning in the night.
While buying a new mattress}, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities on the mattress and also measured how much they compressed the surface.
6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
10 lb steel ball: 2.5 inches of sinkage.
50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
100 lb medicine ball: 7 inches of sinkage.
This tells me is that you’re likely to sink in deeply through the foam layers within this mattress, resulting in a stuck-in-the-bed type feel that will make it somewhat difficult to change positions. Bear Or Puffy Mattress
The edge support on the Puffy mattress will feel stable and create a solid, edge to edge usable sleep surface. The compact base foam coupled with the supportive memory foam should create a very strong perimeter. Sleeping on this mattress you are able to sense a consistent feel across the whole surface and not have a “rolling out of the bed” feel. As far as sitting on the edge goes, you will feel some support.
101 Night Sleep Trial and Guarantee
The Puffy mattress has a 101 night sleep trial period. This trial period allows for more than enough time to try this mattress out. Giving you and your body about 3 months to adjust to the new and improved feel of your memory foam mattress. It is a good idea to note that you should take advantage of testing this mattress in this time period. Anytime you get a brand new mattress your body needs a few weeks to even months to completely adapt. If for any reason you get to the end of your trial period and it isn’t a good fit, Puffy will work with you to return and refund your purchase.
This mattress comes with a lifetime warranty which goes above and beyond what the standard warranty for the mattress industry is. This warranty shows that Puffy really backs their product. Covering any abnormal flaws or manufacturing mistakes. Minus the average wear and tear of a mattress. This provides consumers with the assurance that this is a mattress that the company is going to stand behind.

Puffy Mattress Sleep Temperature?
The Puffy mattress uses cooling technology in every material of the mattress. The top layer of memory foam is a patent-pending cooling cloud foam which uses conduction and convection to release heat and keep it away from the body. It’s also infused with gel that improves the airflow 8x more than standard foam mattresses.
The base foam is dense and supportive to create a solid base that will not let you sink into the mattress and also keep you closer to the surface at which less heat will build around the body. The cover is also breathable to aid in keeping cool. All of this enables for the mattress to maintain an ideal temperature whilst sleeping.
Is The Puffy Mattress Right For You?
First and foremost, I’d say this mattress could make an excellent pick for side sleepers as the thick comfort layer works to alleviate strain in the shoulders and hips.
Also note that the Puffy evokes a classic memory foam feel, so can be good for anyone with a penchant for the material. Bear Or Puffy Mattress
And lastly, this is one soft mattress, therefore can do wonders for anyone seeking a gentle, soothing structure.
Though the memory foam is a significant selling point of this mattress, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for strict stomach sleepers who may discover that it sends their hips out of alignment with their shoulders.
Additionally, it contributes to a structure that doesn’t have very much bounce, which could be a detractor for people in need of buoyant support.
Final Thoughts On The Puffy Mattress Bear Or Puffy Mattress
The Puffy mattress is a great choice for all those that are looking to get all the benefits of a foam mattress without overpaying. The simple design makes it a classic. This mattress is covered in a removable cover that can be unzipped and cleaned when needed. The top is stretchy and soft and fits well to the mattress. It has a very appropriate and aesthetically pleasing cloud layout that actually adds to the appearance. The side panels are a dim grey durable fabric that compliment the mattress too. Unlike the conventional foam mattresses, this one will remain cool and will cradle you fairly well and will give good pressure relief. Puffy is extremely sturdy and contains motion isolation that makes it suitable for many different types of sleepers. Although, I’d like to say this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers as the thick relaxation layer works to relieve tension at the shoulders and hips. Moreover, the mattress provides proper body support and is a great selection for all people who suffer from back pain or joint pain. Bear Or Puffy Mattress
