Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Ascaso Helix White
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Ascaso Helix White

Construction Ascaso Helix White
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Ascaso Helix White
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options seem right, you could always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Ascaso Helix White
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Ascaso Helix White
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
